Beyond the mountains there is a heart.

Dear Ricky,
I'm sorry to have pushed you away. Like probably all people, including your own mother and father, did. What it must feel like, I do not know. For in all the turbulences of your being, one thing transpired. You had a firm intention of treating us with Love. Growing up in fame, I cannot imagine what that must feel like. To have all the attention, but not the love you were desperately looking for. Beyond the mountains of your hate, aggression, pride and righteousness, there is a heart too. I wonder if someone ever really touched it. Did you manage to let someone in fully? Will you ever know what it means to be loved for who you are? Not for your looks, your voice, your fame or anything else. Just because? Through this letter I hope to give you some of this light and love. I hope you can feel it, that I actually see you now. I love you. You deserve it. As your son, I can give you a love that is unique. Because the love of a son for his father is as much a validation as the love of a father is to his son. I suppose, from the way you talk about your father, that you never really got this love. May I break this cycle. Break this cycle of fear of not being enough.
